Getting to know Phil is like meeting your long lost brother or as some of his client’s say, a father. He is casual, comfortable and takes the time to explain what you are facing with our investigation, arrest or court appearance.

Phil’s natural ability to stay calm during difficult negotiations or trial comes from his early years. He was born in Amarillo, Texas in 1953. Summers were spent on the farm working cattle and farming. He spent his teen years on the wheat harvest circuit. He still owns the family farm in Canyon, Texas. His family moved to Colorado in 1960. Philip grew up in Aurora and Evergreen, Colorado. He traveled Europe during the summer in 1970 and he graduated from Evergreen High School in 1971. Some criminal cases come with Channel 9 on the scene, especially with a hit and run vehicular assault or homicide. Other cases have hostile police presence. This can be a very confusing and unsettling time. No matter the circumstances, Mr. Smith realizes that each case and client is experiencing a very difficult time in his or her life and strives to keep you informed and ease the fear. Yes, sometimes Channel 9 is around but more often, they are not.

There are times when Philip relies on forensic accountants, computer experts, polygraphists, and handwriting and document analysts. We may call in DNA analysts, breath test chemists, physicians, psychiatrists or psychologists, medical examiners or social workers to attack the charges you are facing. Not every case requires the expert opinion but Philip has the resources available.

I prefer my client’s document as much as possible before being influenced by family, friends or the prosecutor’s reports.
